In the midst of winter there are moments that can feel warm and beautiful and leave lasting memories

This painting is painted in oil on canvas board, like “Wintersun on the common”. The reference photos were taken on Bircher Common, Croft, Herefordshire on a beautiful winters’ day. They focus on light as many of my painings do. The sun is low but gives a beautiful warm glow on the white snow. We can only view this as the sun is partially hidden behind the darker trees, otherwise we would be blinded by the light.
